Coneflowers

The inspiration for these coneflowers were the black eyed Susans in my garden, what can say, I guess creativity comes from many sources. It's on a 16 x 20 canvas, done in oils and still drying.

Poppies in Normandy

I missed a few of the spring 2012 art classes due to a broken leg. Fellow painter/friends Martina and Rose continued art classes with me on the patio for several weeks into the summer. We would try to begin and finish a painting each night. Inspiration for this painting was a photo from Martina's co-worker, who had recently taken a trip to Normandy. The poppies are done in acrylics on a 8 x 10 canvas.

Cardinal in the woods

This is another painting the trio did over the summer, it's an acrylic on a 8 x 10 canvas.

Fish bowl

The painting trio had lots of fun with the fish bowl, it is painted on a 8 x 10 in acrylics. There was plenty of discussion on the size of the fish and if it could move around in there......wait, maybe that was the wine talking.

Summer peonie 2012

Another night the painting trio tackled peonies, we always got a kick of how we could work from one picture and all the finished paintings looked different.

Bouquets of flowers

As you can imagine, I had quite a bit of time on my hands when home with a broken leg and not very mobile. These three little acrylic 8 x 10's were inspired by various bouquets of flowers I received. The lily was also an inspiration for a painting Martina, Rose and I painted together, lilies were from both Rose and my garden, it was a great evening, even teacher Diane joined us.

I always enjoy painting with knife, this 9 x 12 acrylic was done in art class, through the winter of 2011.

Crossing the St. Lawrence

Is an oil painting on a 16 x 40 x 2 gallery wrapped canvas. It was inspired by a photo Gerry took of us as we crossed the St. Lawrence River returning from a fall vacation in Quebec 2006. It's hanging in our bedroom.

Blue Flowers in vase

This 6 x 20 oil painting is hanging in the kitchen, I love the richness of the colours and it brightens up a little space just perfect.

Cup of Coffee?

This acrylic on a 24 x 30 gallery wrapped canvas was an inspiration from a photograph I took at a fancy restaurant in Calgary in September 2011. I have it hanging in the dining room.

Seashore sunset

Can you smell the seashore? This is an oil on 8 x 10 canvas, inspired from the sunsets on the north shore of New Brunswick.

Peonie in Calgary

I painted this on a 20" x 20" inch gallery wrapped canvas in acrylics while I was in Calgary in April 2012. Needless to say it is remaining in Calgary.

In the Garden

Two more painting in progress, inspired by another beautiful photo taken by my girlfriend Martina. These are both done in acrylics on 16 x 20 gallery wrapped canvas. And guess who I have lured into my studio.....yes, the photographer Martina has put aside her camera for a few hours, and picked up the paintbrush. She is a natural! Martina's painting has the blue and peach coloured chairs and I painted my garden chairs in orange and pink.

First Snowfall Winter 2011

The inspiration for this winter scene is from my girlfriend Martina's blog. She took a picture to captured her Christmas decorations on her patio after the first winter snowfall just before Christmas 2011. It is an oil painting on a 16 x 20 gallery wrapped canvas.
